Produced by The Chinese Reconciliation Project Foundation, this free, public, outdoor event will reverse the walking route of the expulsion of the Chinese community from Tacoma in 1885, reclaiming the city for all peoples and cultures during this current era of racist violence against Asians, African Americans, Native Americans and other peoples of color.
The walk, led by civic, educational, business and faith leaders, will begin at Union Station where the Chinese pioneers were marched at gunpoint out of town along the railroad tracks, proceed north through downtown Tacoma where many Chinese businesses and houses once stood, along Schuster Parkway and the railroad- largely built by Chinese labor, and finally arrive at the Chinese Reconciliation Park.
